Lake-side summer in Tyrol
Beeing active around the Achensee
When the snow begins to melt, temperatures slowly start to rise and the first spring flowers commence their blossoming in the valley, it is clear that summer is near. Of course, so is the summer season, which is indeed unique at the Achensee.
Due to its high-alpine situation, several sunny and warm days are required before the Achensee reaches pleasant bathing temperatures. The Achensee offers excellent conditions as regards water quality and visibility, which is why it is enormous popular among divers as well. Once the temperatures have reached summer levels, the bathing beaches are real treats, with the lake offering perfect wind conditions for water athletes, such as sailors, wind or kite surfers at the same time.
You can easily access the lake – all the vessels of the Achenseeschifffahrt fleet are accessible without any barriers. The boats regular transport guests across the Achensee and can also be used to access the Gaisalm that directly borders the banks of the Achensee.
The Achensee lake rides impress guests with numerous events such as Sunday brunches, Fischergut Advent, Lake-side Christmas and fleet festival with brass music and ensures a broad entertainment programme throughout the year.

“You haven't really been somewhere, unless you've been there on foot".
This quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is no less relevant today. Framed by two picturesque mountain ridges, the region around the Achensee offers a broad spectrum of hiking possibilities.
Enjoy fantastic panorama views from the Bärenkopf (1991m), the Ebner Joch (1957m), the Seebergspitze (2085m) or the Seekarspitze (2053m) out. More leisurely hikers can, of course, use the Rofan cable cars and start their hike from the summit station there.
Mountaineers seeking to explore the actual summits will find ideal conditions in the Karwendel Mountains as well. From the Falzthurntal, you can access the steep mountain slopes of the Karwendel and set out to challenging tours.
The region around the Achensee also hosts three stages of Tyrol’s Adlerweg trail that lead from Pinegg to Steinberg am Rofan, from the Waldhäusl rest stop to the Erfurter Hütte lodge and finally from Erfurter Hütte to the Lamsenjochhütte.
Since 2009, the Karwendelmarsch hike has been regularly held as well. With start in Scharnitz, it leads through the breath-taking mountain world of the Karwendel to Pertisau at the Achensee in several stages.
